General

‘Děkuji’ is how you say ‘thank you’ in Czech. It can be somewhat challenging to pronounce for English speakers. Here’s a phonetic transliteration to help with pronunciation:

Děkuji is pronounced as “Dyeh-koo-yee.”

Breaking it down further:

  • “Dě” sounds like the “de” in “den,” but with a slightly softer ‘d’ and a longer ‘e.’
  • “ku” is pronounced like “koo” in “kook.”
  • “ji” is similar to the “yee” in “yeet.
